Michigan – Ohio.
After a 10 hour drive that seen us driving through Toronto, Sarnia, Detroit and Ann Arbor
We finally arrived at our destination, The Ark.
The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI – is a not for profit venue that is set to a theater style venue located in beautiful downtown Ann Arbor, where there are more outdoor patio’s than any other city that I have been in. Everyone that works at the Ark is a volunteer; they are so friendly and extremely hard working.
As we started our concert to a sold out house we kicked it into high gear with all the songs from our new album then moved into old favorites interweaving stores and jokes of our trips of past and present.
Thankfully we were fortunate to have a contingent of people on holidays from Scotland, so I had someone to tease for the night. Thank you…..
After the concert we traveled to Oberlin Ohio (3 ½ hours) to have a quick rest then a full day of performing at the Ohio Scottish Games. I’m always amazed at the amount of people, at a new venue, that travel far distances to see us that have seen us before, people that have all our albums and that have fond memories of concerts from years ago. Telling us stories of how songs on our albums have helped them get through some tough times in their lives; that makes performing so much more important to me and stories like these makes us want to exceed expectations with each concert and album.
After the concert we headed back to the hotel for rest before our 10 hour drive home the next morning, however, we headed to the bar to meet up with friends and fans and had a grand old time telling stories and telling jokes, the Brigadoons joined us for a few and then we all drifted off to our rooms.
The strangest part of the night was the fire alarm that went off at 3:00 am where we were ushered out of the hotel for one hour, however, Ziggy, Ewan and D’Arcy slept through it. Strange….
Until next weekend in Kincardine, have a great week.
